These slings are used mainly by women on the high grasslands for herding yaks home in the evening. The sling is swung over the head in a swift motion and suddenly released, to let fly a small stone or piece of dried dung. These are made by women in Genong Clan, Lhagang District, of yak hair and a piece of handmade wool felt for the pad.
