Yak Hide Tsampa Bags

These tsampa bags are used traditionally to carry tsampa (roasted barley flour) or chirra (dried yak cheese) for a day or overnight trip. The leather is handtanned without chemicals and is safe to eat from – it will even hold water! The softening is done with yak butter. They were handmade in Gala Village, Jiga District, Daocheng County.
